Anna Vandagriff, born December 11, 1988 in Huntington Beach, California currently resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Uses mixed media and painting, she started painting as a teenager with such strong opinions and emotions she used art as her microphone. A true introvert, isolating herself made it hard to open up and share her feelings; she instead allowed those feelings to flow through the tip of her paintbrush.
Her abstract paintings are influenced by her choice of music, Pairing music and painting while letting the colors represent the emotions of each piece. “If I don’t have a particular idea of what I want to paint, I will put on a playlist and paint to how the music makes me feel.”
She credits her strong family background for her success as an artist, her father for always encouraging her to be herself, letting no one change her and her mother for always being supportive and proud of the message her art speaks. Anna likes to experiment with mediums to create a style unique to the art community.
“When people view my artwork I want them to open up and let the colors and the flow of my painting to take them away from reality. I want my painting itself to captivate you causing you to tap into your own interpretation of emotion.”
