Product Description

This was the piece that granted my submission to the Advanced Painting Workshop. It represents a shift from my original abstract style to a more figurative style. The background is abstract, but I nailed 7 figurative paintings, seemingly unrelated, against the purple backdrop to help articulate feelings of transition regarding religious beliefs about the universe. It measures roughly 5 feet tall by 2 feet wide.

Media: Acrylic, canvas, Wood, Nails

Size: 5’x2′

Chaster Blaster Art

Chas Feuss (Chaster Blaster) was born in Atlanta in 1988, moved to Minneapolis in 2000, and has lived in Madison for the past 6 years. He sold his first paintings, abstract mountainscapes, when he was a teenager living in Minneapolis. Since then, he has graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BFA in studio arts. He spent two semesters in the Advanced Painting Workshop, which helped him learn to articulate the underlying motives for his work.
Combining the bizarre and the mundane, Chaster Blaster creates vividly colorful works that highlight the absurdity, terror, love and magic that exists in our increasingly confusing world. An environmentalist and social entrepreneur, he has spent the last year working with local businesses to help grow both the creative community and the community at large in Madison, Wisconsin. He loved animals, which is often present in his work. When he is not painting or creating digital works, of which he has made hundreds over the last few years) he can be found researching sustainability, working on Artup Weekend, a national event that launched in Madison last month which he co-founded, or trying to understand why his cat is mad at him.
