Madison-area indigo dye expert and textile artist Jennifer Falkowski will be leading a second annual weekend-long indigo dyeing retreat for women who are interested in learning about, and experiencing the magical process of dyeing with indigo. The weekend will feature instruction in Japanese shibori fabric techniques, open access to indigo dyeing vats and direction, as well as gourmet dining. Retreatants will learn the fascinating 1000 year global history of the indigo dye process, which starts with plants. Natural indigo dye is both colorfast and lightfast. No two pieces or effects are ever alike, which makes the unfolding process both surprising and exciting.
Deep Into Indigo Retreat runs July 14-16, 2017, and includes lodging, all meals, fabric, dye, and shibori tools. In honor of Bastille Day, meals will be French-inspired and feature the rich bounty of the local food culture. Retreatants will also receive blue-themed gifts. Early Bird pricing runs until June 15, 2017, and is $550 per participant. After June 15, the price is $650 per person. Cost includes all lodging, food and beverages (including wine & cocktails). A Saturday-only pass is also available for $275.
